TO FEEL THE HOMELAND
What emotion remains imprinted in our memory when we see an image of war?
The rawness of what some lived through cannot be fully expressed in a staged photograph.
We see photos of war, and they convey fear, suffering—emotions that are nearly impossible to replicate.
So, I recreate an imaginary. Almost like cinematic scenes, the atmosphere in these photographs seeks to evoke the complex experience of war.
The bravery of young soldiers. Their camaraderie, even in the harshest of conditions. Heroism. The endless waiting. The uncertainty.
Through these images, we may begin to glimpse what the Falklands War was.
We may empathize with those who lived it, and perhaps what we heard growing up, what we were taught in school, becomes more tangible.
A strategic moment. A deafening sound. Exposure to the elements. A record of a moment in our shared history.
