Malvinas

In 2015, Gonzalo Lauda traveled to the Islas Malvinas accompanied by the son of a pilot who disappeared in the ocean thirty-six years earlier, marathon runner Marcelo de Bernardis, and a historian.

During one week, he took nearly three thousand photographs. From this collection, with the help of his editors, he selected forty-nine images that make up the book Malvinas (India Ediciones, 2017).

Additionally, nineteen of those photos were part of an exhibition shown at the Malvinas and South Atlantic Islands Museum in 2018. His photographs reflect the perspective of a walker.

“On the Islas Malvinas, one day is many days. Everything begins again and again, or nothing ever ends. The sun comes out and clouds gather, it rains and snows, and then the sun comes out again.”
